Blogging for People or Money?

I have been asked this question too many times and here is my take on it. To me it’s like asking if you should be designing very uncomfortable and ugly shoes and then sell them. Answer should be obvious. Blog for the people and produce great content. Bring value, address people concerns, show ways to resolve issues and offer a solution either as affiliate product or your own.
There is a perception (when people just starting with internet marketing) that to make money online you just throw a site or blog on the internet, re-syndicate content and money will follow. Nothing could be farther from the reality.
Another extreme is that some bloggers blog for fun and view blog monetizing as something evil. Well, let’s say you are publishing blog on a national park – great content, pictures, videos, trail maps and so on. Don’t you think visitors will benefit if you add [affiliate] links for camping equipment and gear that you tried and liked? Visitors happy since they don’t need to search for yet another site with camping gear, you start making money from the blog, may eventually quit a job and concentrate on things you like to do. Such as running a national park blog!
